Raxis’ Jason Taylor Speaks on Badge Production at OzSec 2024

As a lead penetration tester at Raxis, I take security seriously, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be fun as well. This year I designed the badge for OzSec 2024, Wichita Kansas’ annual cybersecurity conference. In the process, I learned how to create an electrical schematic, design a PCB, route traces, and select electrical components to make it functional. I then used tools like friends and GitHub Copilot to code the firmware. I had an awesome artist provide the visual design elements and some talented friends who helped out as well, and the entire experience was a lot of fun & learning at the same time.

Raxis is a proud sponsor of OzSec 2024, which caters to everything from GRC and management, to physical security and hacking. This year it features multiple CTF challenges, including a social engineering CTF, a traditional CTF, and a badge specific CTF.

It’s always exciting to get together with other folks in the cybersecurity community. The community is thriving with people who care strongly about helping people and companies stay secure. I’m excited this year to be giving a walkthrough of the badge production process. If you’re in the Wichita area and attending OzSec 2024, I hope you’ll drop by and say “hello.”
